Ways and Solutions
Lee Gab-sook, the President of the Busan Port Authority (BPA), opened a special forum on March 13 in the Graduate
School of Business Administration Lecture Hall at the invitation of DAU's Container Cargo Safe Transport Technology
Development Cluster Agency.
In his presentation titled 'About the BPA,' Lee lectured on the changes in the world's ports and the workings of the BPA.
A question and answer session was held after his talk.
"The amount of trade in the world will maintain a 7% growth rate," he emphasized the role of the BPA as a hub port.
Moreover, in order to be competitive, BPA is moving forward with plans to upgrade port infrastructure, boost port-related
industry and global business, promote business with North Korea, and contribute to North Korean port redevelopment. The development of marine tourism resources will not be neglected. BPA will make efforts to sustain itself as a high-tech port
and green port because competition is increasing among megaports.
"BPA has to become the 21st century Eurasian Gateway centered around cargo, people, and nature," he offered some
proposals to advance the BPA. He also put emphasis on the importance of T/S port, which is BPA's strength, and
described port infrastructure for distributing domestic cargo.
One hundred students and professors attended the forum, which lasted one hour and twenty minutes.
