janitors' lounge in the College of Humanities building to meet them.
Ms. Kim Mi-nam warmed my heart with her kind smile and humble answers during the interview. She has been
working as a janitor at our school for 23 years. She comes to the school around 6 a.m. and starts to clean classrooms of College of Humanities, corridors, and washrooms. She said though the work is hard, she does her best and feels
productive because she is working at our school. Considering students her own children, she empties the
wastebaskets of students' clubs even though that is not her responsibility. "I would like students not to waste toilet
paper, not to smoke in the non-smoking areas, not to spit on the ground, not to put posters on the wall except bulletins," she said. "Please separate garbage for recycling, save toilet paper, use washroom cleanly," she added.
I could feel her motherly affection as she said she regarded DAU students, who were so kind-hearted, like her own
children. She hoped that they spend money frugally in view of the high tuition, study hard, and get a good job.
