The BRIC economies will dominate the world in the 21st century. BRIC is the acronym of △Brazil △Russia △India △China, which developed a fast-growing economy rapidly in the 2000s. Combined, BRIC signifies fast economic growth in the present and huge economic potential.
The four countries of the BRIC have in common the necessary conditions to become a great economic power, having a large amount of territory, huge population, and abundant underground resources. These four nations occupy 30% of the earth's surface, and the total population make up 43% of the world's population as of 2000. They have a big domestic market with its consumers and an abundance of manpower, able to attract foreign investment and to sustain high export volume.
Especially, China is growing the fastest economically at 7~10% annually these days. India is emerging as an IT leader with its developed IT infrastructure. Russia has abundant underground resources like petroleum and natural gas. Brazil is distinguished for its agricultural and forestry industry. Specialists predict these countries will become great economic powers.
